What sets Cuboid No 4 apart from other office spaces is its focus on interaction and mobility. Unlike traditional offices, this project embraces a semi-open design approach, utilizing virtual and real design techniques to define spaces such as supervisors' offices, meeting rooms, and a pantry. The result is a comfortable and flexible modern working environment that caters to the progressive demands of the employees.
The realization of Cuboid No 4 involved the use of various materials and technologies. Pandomo, retro red brick, moru glass, LED light bars, iron mesh, iron plate, titanium-plated metal, and Ked system plate were employed to bring the designer's vision to life.
With an area of approximately 210 square meters, Cuboid No 4 is divided into different sections, including an employee office area, two supervisor offices, a conference room, pantry, rest space, and toilet. Each area is carefully designed to optimize functionality and create a cohesive workspace.
The design of Cuboid No 4 promotes interaction and collaboration among employees. The mezzanine spaces, taking advantage of the inherent height of the office, serve as meeting areas where employees can gather, rest, and discuss important matters. The choice of construction materials, such as Pandomo, recycled red bricks, and iron parts, along with the use of LED light bars, contributes to the distinctive and professional atmosphere of the office.
The project, which took place in Taipei City, Taiwan, began in February 2019 and was completed in April 2020. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research on industrial style and British characters, integrating these elements into the office space. Overcoming challenges such as limited space and the addition of mezzanines, the designers successfully created a safe and comfortable environment for the staff.
Cuboid No 4 has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, technical skill, and a commitment to improving quality of life.
With its unique blend of industrial and British influences, Cuboid No 4 stands as a testament to the innovative possibilities in office design. By prioritizing interaction, mobility, and functionality, this project sets a new standard for modern working environments.
